US, China Agree to Hold Regular Talks Amid Commerce Chief Raimondo's 1st Meeting in Beijing

China and the United States agreed on Aug. 28 to set up a new "commercial issues" working group and begin regular discussions on export control enforcement information, as part of U.S. Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo's first face-to-face meeting with her Chinese counterpart, Wang Wentao.

The mechanism, with the stated goal to "seek solutions on trade and investment issues and to advance U.S. commercial interests in China," will involve U.S. and Chinese officials and private-sector representatives, according to a Commerce Department statement.
