Evacuations mandatory in southwest Sabine Parish; homes destroyed

TOLEDO BEND -- More than a half-dozen homes have burned in a raging wildlife in southwest Sabine Parish today, officials said. The fire in Pirates Cove broke out before noon Friday. As of 4:30 p.m., it's considered about 50 percent contained. Winds are picking up from a thunderstorm traveling southwest across Sabine Parish. Mandatory evacuations were in place for residents in Pirates Cove off state Highway 191.
