Airlines sending planes to Maui for passenger evacuations

United Airlines and American Airlines said they are sending planes to Maui for passenger evacuations as catastrophic wildfires sweep through the Hawaiian island. In a statement shared with The Hill, United Airlines said it cancelled Thursday’s inbound flights to Kahului Airport on Maui and will send its empty planes instead to be used as passenger flights back to the mainland.
