Air quality worsens in central Pa., prompting red alert

Hundreds of wildfires burning in Canada are sending smoke southward, causing air quality issues in Pennsylvania and neighboring states. On Wednesday, the Pa. Department of Environmental Protection has issued a Code Red alert for air quality, up from the Code Orange of the past few days, in the Harrisburg region and beyond. A red alert means air pollution in the state are unhealthy, which can cause health effects on most people. Those with breathing and cardiac issues are in particular danger.
