Alabama joins a dozen states restricting transgender college athletes

MONTGOMERY — Alabama is now one of more than a dozen states that ban transgender college students from participating on sports team that align with their gender identity. Gov. Kay Ivey signed House Bill 261 on May 30, which limits transgender students to playing sports in public colleges and universities only with their biological sex.
