Nvidia becomes the third Bay Area company worth more than $1 trillion

Corporate America’s highest echelon has a new member. It’s no surprise it’s another Bay Area tech company. Nvidia, the Santa Clara-based chipmaking giant, became the sixth publicly traded company worth more than $1 trillion on Tuesday morning. The company, which makes the graphics processing chips critical to artificial intelligence systems, forecast a massive sales quarter last Wednesday and has seen its stock price leap by almost 30% since.
