The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite advanced on Thursday as Wall Street traders focused on debt ceiling negotiations and the latest commentary from Federal Reserve speakers.
The S&P 500 added 0.3%, while the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.7%. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 65 points, or 0.2%.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Thursday that he’s optimistic congressional negotiators could reach a deal in time for a House vote next week.
