After more than three years, the US officially ended its Covid health emergency today. Among other things, its termination will affect how Americans access services like telehealth care and free Covid tests, as well as how closely public health agencies track Covid infections. The unwinding of the emergency in recent months has already impacted Medicaid coverage, which had grown to more 91 million people during the pandemic amid the easing of enrollment provisions.
