Homes being evacuated in Sugar House neighborhood due to flooding

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City Fire is evacuating about 35 homes in a Sugar House neighborhood as flooding continues. The Red Cross announced it is opening an evacuation shelter at a The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building on 2215 E. Roosevelt Avenue. An estimated 100 residents in the area of 1700 South between 1500 East and 1700 East are affected, the Red Cross said. Earlier on Wednesday, a park in the city was closed due to the flooding.
