Steering wheels can fall off Tesla Model Y, federal agency says

The U.S. auto safety regulator has opened an investigation into a bizarre malfunction: the steering wheel fell off in two Tesla Model Y SUVs.
The investigation announced Wednesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration will evaluate the safety of the estimated 120,000 2023 Model Ys on the road. The agency said it learned of the problem from two reports — in each vehicle, the bolt that fastens the wheel to the steering column was missing.
