The Justice Department won’t seek the death penalty for the man accused of killing 23 people in 2019 at a Walmart in El Paso, Texas, federal prosecutors said in a Tuesday court filing. Patrick Crusius faces 90 federal charges for his alleged role in one of the deadliest mass shootings in U.S. history; 45 of the charges have been deemed hate crimes, or crimes motivated by racial, religious, national origin, sexual, gender or disability bias.
