In 2022, Republican-led states pulled almost $4.5 billion from investing giant BlackRock due to the asset manager’s commitment to environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) investing standards.
BlackRock considers climate change to be an economic risk and is pushing businesses to rapidly cut their carbon emissions, in accordance with international climate treaties.
“We’re asking for something very simple, and that’s for the free market to remain free,” West Virginia State Treasurer Riley Moore told the Daily Caller News Foundation.
