The number of handgun owners carrying a firearm each day has doubled in recent years.

An estimated 6 million people carried a handgun daily in 2019 in the United States, up from an estimated 3 million in 2015, according to a study published in the American Journal of Public Health.

The study’s authors compared data from the National Firearms Survey in 2015 to an online sampling of 55,000 adults with 2,389 households reporting they owned a handgun in 2019 to show that the number of people who chose to carry a handgun at least once per month...
