16 Undetermined Races Will Decide Control of the House; GOP Edges Towards Majority

A week after Election Day, control of the House of Representatives lies in the hands of 16 undetermined races, more than half of them in California.

As of late on Monday evening, Republicans were holding 214 seats in the 435-member House, and Democrats 205 seats. A majority requires 218 seats.

Ten of the remaining races are in California, two are in Colorado, and one each in Alaska, Maine, New York, and Oregon.

Of the 16 contests, Democrats lead in nine and Republicans in seven.
