Conservative justices reject high court petition over 'fetal personhood' rights

The Supreme Court rejected a petition on Tuesday over whether fetuses are entitled to constitutional rights.

Justices declined the appeal brought by a Catholic group and two women who challenged a 2019 Rhode Island law that codified abortion rights. Justice Samuel Alito , who authored the 6-3 decision that overturned Roe v. Wade this summer, previously signaled the high court would not take a position on the question brought by opposition to the Rhode Island law.
