Cities Should Take the Lead in Fighting Extremism in America
As former mayors who served our cities during violent extremist attacks — Pittsburgh during the Tree of Life synagogue massacre in 2018, and Charlottesville during the white nationalist Unite the Right rally in 2017 — we welcome last week’s White House United We Stand Summit, where President Joe Biden sought to “counter the corrosive effects of hate-fueled violence on our democracy and public safety.”
