The market’s comeback from a long slump gains steam with the Dow up 600 points

Stocks rose Thursday, as Wall Street tried to rebound from a long string of weekly declines.
The Dow rose 606 points, or 1.9%. The S&P 500 climbed 2.2%. The tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite gained 3%, helped by a surge in Dollar Tree shares, and was the outperformer after trailing the other averages earlier in the day.
