CDC: Shortened COVID Quarantine Affected by What People Could Tolerate

Dr. Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, said Wednesday that behavioral toleration of voluntary isolation played a role in the latest quarantine guidelines, according to Fox News.

The statement came as the CDC announced on Monday that it was shortening the recommended quarantine period for the asymptomatic with exposure to COVID-19 from 10 to five days. Some medical experts and political leaders questioned the decision, coming as it does in the midst oif a record surge in infecitons spurred by the rapid transmission of the new omicron variant.
