Is The US About To See A Rise In Foreclosures After Surge In September?

Foreclosures in the U.S. are ticking upward as programs designed to help homeowners stay in place during the COVID-19 pandemic begin to end. 

On Thursday, mortgage data firm ATTOM released a report on mortgage foreclosures for the third quarter of 2021. It showed there were 45,517 U.S. properties with foreclosure filings on record, an increase of 34% from the second quarter, and up 68% from the same period last year. In September, ATTOM found 19,609 filings which is 24% higher than in August and 102% higher than in September 2020.
