Judge blocks Trump administration asylum rules

A judge blocked a set of Trump administration asylum rules from going into effect.

U.S. District Judge James Donato in San Francisco on Friday ruled against the administration, saying that acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf lacked the authority to implement the December measures because he has never been confirmed to his position by the Senate. The judge said it was the fifth time a court has ruled against the department for the same reason.
