Most voters don’t really have opinions or priorities. They just have a side

President Trump is winning 86% of voters in Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania who say the economy is the biggest issue this election and 92% of voters who say crime is most important. Joe Biden, in that same poll, is winning 78% of voters who say the coronavirus is the most important.

If I saw numbers like that a decade ago, I might have said, “Economy voters favor Trump, and pandemic voters favor Biden.”
