US Issues Sweeping New Travel Warning for China, Hong Kong

The U.S. issued a sweeping new advisory warning against travel to mainland China and Hong Kong Tuesday, citing the risk of “arbitrary detention" and “arbitrary enforcement of local laws."
The warning came as part of an updated State Department advisory on China travel, which reduced the overall level of concern from "Do not travel" (Level 4) to "Reconsider travel" (Level 3).
