Pipeline’s Demise Hints at ‘New Era’ for Fossil Fuel Projects

The Atlantic Coast Pipeline – a multibillion-dollar proposed pipeline that would bring natural gas from the West Virginia mountains to the North Carolina coast – is no more, the project's backers have announced.
The leaders of Dominion Energy and Duke Energy, two of the country's largest energy utilities, said the project, which has been underway since 2014, was now "too uncertain to justify investing more shareholder capital."
