Dozens of newspapers have announced in recent days that they will no longer publish galleries of mug shots, citing concerns that such reports "reinforced negative stereotypes."

The Wrap reported Monday that the Tampa Bay Times, Orlando Sentinel, and more than two dozen newspapers owned by Gannett recently stopped printing mug shot galleries, joining other outlets who previously ended the practice "arguing that mug shot galleries in particular disproportionately feature black and brown people and further negative stereotypes."
