A home aimed at helping the low-income transgender and gender non-conforming community in San Francisco has opened its doors.
The Trans Home on Washington Street, the city’s first transgender-specific transitional housing program for adults, will provide a safe shelter and supportive services for 13 new residents, who will share a three-story building with 13 bedrooms, three kitchens and a common living space.
Under the program, residents will be able to live in the house rent-free for a year, while receiving support to find permanent housing.
