At least 2.3 million small donors contributed to Democratic presidential contenders in the first half of the year, according to a Wall Street Journal analysis of new data from ActBlue, the online payment processor used by those candidates. With the Democratic primary focused on attracting grass-roots donations, the ActBlue data, filed with the Federal Election Commission late Wednesday, is providing the first detailed look at the universe of donors who, in small increments, are adding up to big money for the crowded field of candidates.
