Trump Calls for Mexico to ‘Step Up’ as U.S. Trade Talks Extended
U.S. and Mexican negotiators are set to resume talks Thursday with time running short to avert President Donald Trump’s threat to impose tariffs next week.
Staff-level meetings are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. at the White House, a U.S. official said. Mexico’s Foreign Minister Marcelo Ebrard was at the State Department Thursday morning but it wasn’t clear who he was meeting with. When asked whether he would meet with Secretary of State Michael Pompeo, Ebrard said he didn’t know.
