I have a question for the brave men and women in our nation’s armed forces: How should we thank you for your service?
Many of us civilians were taught at a young age to express our appreciation by saying thank you to active-duty military personnel, veterans, and the family members who sacrifice while their spouses, siblings, parents, and other relatives are away. But stories like this one make clear that many servicemen and women receive those thanks in a much different way than those who offer them intend.
