Gowdy denies Benghazi panel created to thwart Hillary Clinton's 2016 bid

Rep. Trey Gowdy on Sunday refuted assertions that his House investigative committee has become a political tool for national Republicans and that the panel’s primary purpose is to attack top 2016 Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton.

Gowdy, R-S.C., chairman of the House Select Committee on Benghazi, told “Fox News Sunday” that the panel had moved beyond questioning Clinton about her role as secretary of state during the deadly 2012 attacks on the U.S. diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya.
