New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio on Monday called for “political debate” and protests to end until after the funerals of two police officers fatally shot last weekend by a man who cited the deaths of unarmed black men at the hands of law enforcement.
Mr. de Blaiso, who has come under intense scrutiny for his support for protesters and a deteriorating relationship with police unions, said the city’s focus should shift to the grieving families of Officers Rafael Ramos and Wenjian Liu.
