America’s long-standing pessimism about the economy is showing signs of waning, but the nation’s view of race relations has turned more dour.

A new Wall Street Journal/NBC News poll shows that Americans end the year with a hopeful view of some aspects of their lives and more pessimistic views of the state of the nation.
