Hawaii's fiercely contested Democratic primary for a U.S. Senate seat could be decided Friday, when an election will be held on Hawaii's Big Island for a few thousand voters at two polling places that had been shut down by Tropical Storm Iselle.

Sen. Brian Schatz holds a lead of 1,635 votes over his challenger, U.S. Rep. Colleen Hanabusa, with all but two of the state's 247 precincts reporting and more than 230,000 votes counted. Election officials originally said they would hold a vote by absentee ballot in the Puna District...
