PEW POLL: DEMOCRATS ALMOST EQUALLY DIVIDED ON WHETHER TO BLAME ISRAEL OR HAMAS

29 percent [of Democrats] say Hamas is more responsible; 26 [percent] say Israel."
A solid "majority of Republicans (60 percent)" blame Hamas.
Overall, 40 percent of Americans believe Hamas is culpable, while only 19 percent blame Israel. And 35 percent of Americans "think Israel's response has been about right," while "15 percent" think Israel "has not gone far enough."
A Pew survey released July 15 showed "73 percent" of Republicans "sympathized with Israel" over the Palestinians, compared to "44 percent" of Democrats.
