Sen. Heller Backs Gay-Rights Bill, Likely 60th Vote

Sen. Dean Heller (R., Nev.) said Monday he would vote for a bill banning employment discrimination against gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender workers, giving supporters the 60 votes they need to pass the measure.

Mr. Heller became the fifth Senate Republican to state support for the bill. Combined with 55 votes of Democrats and left-leaning independents in the Senate, the bill appears to now have the support needed to overcome any filibuster.
