California Set to Raise State Minimum Wage

Workers in California would be paid at least $10 an hour in 2016 under a bill passed by the legislature Thursday, a measure likely to make the state the first to guarantee such a high minimum wage.
Gov. Jerry Brown already has pledged his support for the legislation, which would increase the state's current minimum wage of $8 an hour to $9 an hour next July and $10 an hour by January 2016.
