Filibuster Truce Won't End Other Fights, GOP Says

Senate Republicans who broke ranks to support a deal with Democrats on presidential nominees signaled Wednesday that forging a similar alliance could be tougher in coming debt-ceiling and budget fights.

The week's tumult exposed a division between newer, more ideologically driven GOP senators, who generally opposed the deal with Democrats, and veteran GOP lawmakers who supported it. Still, Republicans cautioned that the week's bipartisan truce could weaken when the debate turns to fiscal issues.
