Pennsylvania Voter-ID Ruling Due This Month
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court is expected to rule before the end of September whether a controversial voter-identification law should take effect before the Nov. 6 election.
The Pennsylvania measure, signed into law by Republican Gov. Tom Corbett in March, would require the state's 8.2 million registered voters to present a state-approved photo ID, such as a driver's license or a new free state-issued voter ID card, at the polls. In August, a lower court refused to issue a preliminary injunction that would stop the law from taking effect.
