The Daily Wire was founded in 2015 and is based in Nashville, TN. The website hosts several daily online news shows such as, The Ben Shapiro Show, The Andrew Klavan Show, The Matt Walsh Show, The Michael Knowles Show, The Comments Section with Brett Cooper, and Candece Owens. In addition to daily shows and articles, the Daily Wire has produced several movies and documentaries, such as, Matt Walsh's What is a Woman, and Candence Owen's The Greatest Lie Ever Sold. Their website also houses content from PragerU and Jordan Peterson.
The about page of the Daily Wire says, "The Daily Wire does not claim to be without bias. We’re opinionated, we’re noisy, and we’re having a good time."

The Daily Wire has at times been accused of spreading misinformation. A 2021 Daily Wire article titled “Biden Administration Claims ‘Misinformation’ On Social Media Is Creating Vaccine Hesitancy. Here’s All The Times Democrats Made People Hesitant” inaccurately stated that California Gov. Gavin Newsom had implemented additional COVID-19 restrictions. Newsom and California had eased restrictions a month earlier. The site later made a correction.

The Daily Wire was created in 2015 by Ben Shapiro and Jeremy Boreing. They received several million dollars of seed funding from Dan and Farris Wilks. In June 2020, Shapiro stepped down from his role as editor-in-chief, which he had held since the site's founding. John Bickley is the site's current editor-in-chief.
