Humor: Self-described "fake news program", The Daily Show with Jon Stewart is an American late night satirical television program airing on Comedy Central and, in Canada, The Comedy Network. After Stewart retired in 2015, Trevor Noah took over as host of the show. Multiple former Daily Show 'reporters' became successful comedians elsewhere; most prominent are John Oliver, Hassan Minhaj, Stephen Colbert, Larry Wilmore, Ed Helms, Olivia Munn, Jeff Ross, and Steve Carrell.

According to the 2014 Pew Research Study, Where News Audiences Fit on the Political Spectrum, a majority (72%) of The Daily Show’s audience hold political values to the political left or left-of-center. 7% of The Daily Show's audience is right or right-of-center (compared with 38% of all respondents to the survey). Roughly 21% of The Daily Show's audience is considered mixed or center (compared with 36% of all respondents to the survey).
