Corruption

Whatever the sense of the word, fighting corruption is a rallying cry for so many leaders across the political spectrum (and across nations), it can be hard to know what it actually means.

On one level, this word often is used in reference to anything wrong or unjust happening in political, governmental or business circles. Depending on one’s socio-political view, “corruption” has come to be over-applied to almost anything we disagree about politically.

Others advocate for the more narrow legal  sense that involves, in particular, the exchange of a policy decision or government action for a payment or gift of some kind, where that exchange is an abuse of one's position.

 QUESTIONS TO PLAY WITH:

-How big of a problem do you think corruption is in America today? (Are people over- or under-stating the problem, in your view?)

-If you see corruption as a problem, where exactly do you think it’s the biggest problem?
