Underground fire causes electrical outage in downtown Little Rock

An underground fire on Sixth Street in downtown Little Rock on Wednesday evening knocked out power to parts of the surrounding area, officials said. Shortly after 6 p.m., firefighter crews including two firetrucks were on Sixth Street outside the Downtown Little Rock Partnership building as thin white smoke drifted upward from the street past the pedestrian skybridge. The fire was within an underground electrical vault, Little Rock Fire Department Capt. Doug Coffman said and didn't affect any structures.
